We are rapidly approaching Chinese New Year and I am very excited to usher in the Year of The Monkey. In order to ring in the new year, there will be numerous events around San Francisco, and I am looking forward to celebrating with my friends and colleagues. Here are some of my top pics.
San Francisco State Chinese Department Chinese New Year Celebration
When: Friday, February 19, 2016, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Where: San Francisco State Knuth Hall
This is a wonderful event where university teachers, students, and administrators come together to enjoy performances and share some delicious Chinese food. I have been going to this event since I was a student at SF State, and I am looking forward to reconnecting with some of my previous instructors. RSVP required to attend!
San Francisco Public Library Chinese New Year Celebration
When: Saturday, January 30, 2016, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Where: San Francisco Main Library
The San Francisco Public Library never ceases to be a gold mine of information and friendly people. I am excited to attend this year’s event and to perform a Chinese song.

Chinese New Year Parade
When: 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 20, 2016
Where: Post, Sutter, and Kearny Streets around Chinatown
This parade is an ongoing yearly tradition since 1860. Set in the historic SF Chinatown, the costumes and dragons are incredible.
I hope to see you at one of these events, and happy New Chinese New Year!
